Zesty yellow… how do you react? I see sunshine and goodness. Others see strength and dominance. Yellow is the color of new ideas, action and agility. For some, it’s cheerful and happy. For others, it’s a overwhelming and intense. Whether lemon or butter, there’s a yellow for everyone (come to think of it, lemony butter is a fabulous combo!). Whether in accessories or dresses, yellow is once again a fashion focus. PromGirl stocks a range of casual and formal dresses in many shades of yellow. Here’s my
Favorite Yellow Dresses for SummerWho can resist the citron yellow and turquoise blue in this summer shift? The color swoosh reminds me of groovy days from the past, but this sleeveless knit dress reinterprets color blocking in a targeted way that is definitely zesty.
A romper may be the most polished yet ultra casual way to approach a hot summer day. Vertical bands of yellow fabric alternate with bronze and yellow chevrons for a lean line nipped in at the waist. Add a cute belt and the ever useful pocket and this romper becomes a summer casual basic.
Yellow high low sweetheart dress with beaded waistband
Shine in the crowd when you walk in wearing with this high low sweetheart dress. The beaded waist brings a bit of bling to a semi formal dress that shows off your tan. I like the layers of chiffon and the way this yellow dress flows as you glide, dance and revel at a special occasion this summer.
Looking for a dynamic floor length dress that captures the best trends this summer? Flirt’s one shoulder formal gown uses beads and gathers to emphasize movement down the dress body. Did you notice the peek a boo cut out on the bodice? Flirt adds a short train that extends like rays of sunshine, echoing those same angles in the dress body.
There you have it. Yellow for special days, every day and any day dressing. Put a pop of the yellow trend in your summer wardrobe.

My hope for the future, not just in the music industry, but in every young girl I meet is that they all realize their worth and ask for it. –Taylor Swift
Her in Op-Ed article for the Wall Street Journal, Taylor Swift noted the changes she’s experienced in business, and predicted future trends. While her focus was on the music industry, it can apply to all of us, in all of our passions. Whether we love fashion, genetics, animals, helping people, writing code or cracking algorithms, our generation will need to rethink things, stay on our toes and be aware that our personal brand is our biggest asset. We should value the relationships we build and make sure we are valued.
How do you dress for that? I suppose just like your resume and your reputation, bit by bit.
Here’s 6 Dresses to build your personal brand
Begin each day with a dress you love and the self confidence will shine through. This sleeveless floral print dress has front and back scoop neck for a fresh and breezy air. The exposed zipper gives it a fashion forward kick. And the budget friendly price shows you’re responsible with cash.
Bare shoulders and white textured sheer fabric give this belted summer dress a cosmopolitan twist. The back keyhole closure and gathered neckline show you’re ready to adapt new trends. Style the dress for fun or serious pursuits and look great either way.
Want a bit of sparkle in your personal brand? I love the sequin embellishments in this off the shoulder dress. The look is carefree but the spaghetti straps keep things under control. Joyous and beautiful, you’ll shine at any party or dance in this cute summer dress.
For a focused and elegant look, I’d recommend a lace trimmed dress. Here’s a classic sheath dress in white or pastel colors that definitely rethinks our impressions of lace. Here’s an example of that innovative twist on the traditional that we bring to the future.
Then there are the special occasions. Gala events are your chance to sparkle. What best describes your strong points?Choose three words and express them when you choose your dress for grand nights. When Taylor hits the red carpet, her dress choices often vary, but they all say opulence, down to earth, elegant as she sweeps down the red carpet.
Looking for powerful, confident and daring? Wear this gorgeous La Femme full length gown for a dramatic entry to the red carpet occasions in your future.
Does dramatic not express your style? Feminine, edgy and sincere will bubble like champagne when your walk into special occasions in this Mori Lee formal dress.
Every day, our choices determine our lives. Some of these choices, like a dress, may be little ones. Others create more lasting effects. As these choices combine, we create our identity and build our self worth. Where will we go?
As Taylor stated in her editorial:
The only real risk is being too afraid to take a risk at all.
Here’s to embracing the unknown!

I like soccer, or football as most of the world calls the sport. Not so much that I’ve watched every game, but since the Round of 16 began, it’s been a priority along with my favorite summer deeds. On Sunday, July 14, 2014, the final match between Argentina and Germany is going to be fantastic.
Watching the game with friends on a summer Sunday afternoon will be a blast. This I know. My trouble is
Which dress to wear to watch the World Cup Final?
Help me choose, would you?
This yellow chevron print romper is a fun choice for match day. I can channel my inner referee with this gold print dress. The belt is cute and the neck gathers are adjustable and tie in the back, creating a keyhole. Top it off, this romper costs under $50.
German fans tend to wear two colors from their flag and pull the third in with wacky fan gear. If I decide to root for Germany, what about this black, red and white striped dress? It’s a casual knit dress with a square neckline echoed back and front. I could easily wear it to a Sunday match get together or to an internship gig. Of course, the gold would have to come with the zany accessory, but I could swing that.
Argentina fans are often photographed wearing blue and white tank tops or fan jerseys. If I root for Argentina, you won’t see me wearing that. But I could play on the blue with this chevron print dress. Chevrons are traditionally associated with heraldry, so I could be ever so subtle in my sky blue cap sleeve dress.
I haven’t decided my favorite team… I just want an exciting match well played. Maybe a white sundress is the best bet. White signifies peace, the dove… I’d be establishing my neutrality! This cute cap sleeve dress has an open back and sheer panels covering the side cut outs. Very on trend, I think I’d wear this dress a lot this summer.Do you see my dilemma? Do you have a favorite? Can’t wait for the big match on Sunday!
