Shimmer these 5 Nude Formal Gowns

Seriously, I blushed upon hearing "nude" as a dress color the first time. Call me prude, but my word association matches nude with being in your "birthday suit." If you're wearing clothes, how can you be dishabille? On top of that, my nude skin tone is different than yours, I'm sure. How can a dress be nude? Turns out nude can mean eggshell, blush, ecru, champagne, sandy or buff (had to giggle when I discovered that). So there's a nude that can work for every skin tone, no matter which season your skin (take this quiz to find your skin tone). What's certain: wearing nude formal dresses gives you an ethereal, sublime style. Look at these 5 shimmering nude formal dresses, both long and short.

Two of my choices are from La Femme, a perennial favorite in formal dresses. The first nude La Femme evening gown is strapless with sequin embellishments. Wear this and you'll look like an angel. The sweetheart neckline has a bandeau appearance, thanks to horizontal lines of sequins that travel around the front and back of the dress, like rays of otherworldly moonlight. While this strapless dress is available in other colors, the nude version is extra special.

The second nude La Femme long dress plays with ruching and sheer panels for a bewitching body conscious effect. The jersey gathers down a deep v neck with woven straps crossing the torso. Sheer panels embellished with small rhinestones begin at the sides and sparkle around a bare back effect. All so it looks like you're nude in nude, va voom! I love the way the fabric falls and its placement on this sexy evening dress.

Primavera uses draping to create a gracious open back dress. I'd call this floor length dress iridescent and shimmering rather than nude, thanks to the multicolor sequins that cover the dress body and cascade down the slim skirt. Here's a formal gown that definitely channels a vintage glamour. The nude color way is my favorite but it is also available in pink or purple.

I do want to include both long and short examples of nude formal dresses. For those of you who are looking for a short dress for prom, spring formals or wedding receptions, get a look at these:
A metallic shimmer glistens on this one shoulder ruched dress. The nude spandex body will be comfortable and easy to wear, while the sheer sparkling top layer gives this short formal dress an elegant air. You'll feel daring and confident in this nude number.

Sweet, sassy and nude could sum up this short Atria formal dress. Sleeveless, with a high neck and sheer panels, Atria adds lace appliqu and beads for a romantic yet audacious cocktail dress. On the back, they've placed the appliqu on sheer fabric to frame your back beautifully. This dress marches ahead confidently, but carries appreciation of the past with it.

So, there's 5 variations where a nude dress looks fabulous. Would you blush if you went in a nude dress to your spring formal or prom? I'd love to get your point of view.
