GIRLS WHO ROCK is an annual event held during Internet Week New York that connects entertainment, technology and design communities to advocate for girls and education worldwide. The event is produced entirely by volunteers, the majority of whom are local students being mentored to become leaders. GIRLS WHO ROCK benefits the organization SHES THE FIRST which believes that the best way to fight poverty and extremism is to educate and empower women and girls. To that end, SHES THE FIRST fosters leadership and self-awareness in young Americans, by inspiring them to lead creative fundraisers and correspond with sponsored students.
Basically, SHES THE FIRST is a kick butt organization that works to ensure that girls worldwide receive a proper education and at the same time, inspire young Americans to become leaders and help make that happen.
